The four month old Amur tiger cub enjoying himself in the water BANHAM ZOO, NORFOLK, ENGLAND, ADORABLE images show a four month-old Amur tiger cub named Kash getting distracted by the beauty of his own reflection while taking a drink just like the Greek legend of Narcissus. Images from Banham Zoo, Norfolk show the tiger cub perfectly reflected in the still water while going for a drink then looking at its reflection before finally deciding it is time for a swim. Narcissus was a hunter of Greek myth famous for his beauty who became so distracted by his own reflection in a pool that he refused to eat or drink. These images were captured by photographer Tom Jones (32) from Colchester Essex, England who was interviewed by mediadrumworld.com. Tom captured the cute creatures on his Canon EOS R7. “Having had a fair amount of rain the ditch had filled with a good few feet of water, this often provides the tigers with a lot of excitement and fun to be had splashing around in it,” said Tom. “Interestingly enough this was the first time brothers Kash and Kumi had the opportunity to get into water out of their depth and learn to swim. “Firstly they decided to check it out which provided me with some lovely reflection moments before eventually plunging in and chasing down some sticks. “Tigers enjoy water much more than people think. People often assume tigers being cats don't like it as they observe this behaviour in domestic cats but that couldn't be further from the truth. “It's always great to catch unique moments, reflections and first swims are often some of the best! “My favourite would have to be the shot of Kash looking up with the water reflection below him, the colours and reflection always makes me smile. “The key is patience! Having seen there could be an opportunity I perched low and waited, so much so I lost feeling in my toes a few times. Thankfully it paid off on this occasion. “I think tigers have brilliant personalities. “Whilst people see them as apex predators and absolutely should respect them and leave them to their own out in the wild they can be truly fascinating to observe. “Kash can be incredibly goofy, climbing and falling out of trees playing with his brother. “Some tigers seem more reserved and placid, choosing to live up to the "sleep all day" status they often are renowned for, others like to put on a bit of a show and have fun. “These moments are unique, capturing a cub at that age with the inquisitive nature is always a wonderful achievement.” ENDS
