(NYT86) BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- July 6, 2007 -- WEST-HEAT-7 -- Leota Lankford, one amongst dozens of senior citizens enjoying the air conditioning and country western dancing at the Ramussen Senior Center in Bakersfield, Calif., Friday, July 6, 2007 where the weather was expected to reach 108 degrees in Bakersfield. The Ramussen Senior Center is one of the dozens of designated cooling centers throughout the state mandated by Gov. Schwarzenneger. It also serves as a shelter for heat realted emergencies.
