(NYT55) VENICE, Italy -- June 26, 2007 -- TRAVEL-VENICE-EATS -- A couple walks towards the exterior of the Osteria Vecio Fritolin restaurant in Venice, Italy, June 2007. It seems it's necessary to visit Venice every few years to reaffirm that a couple of things haven't changed. First, one of the world's favorite cities hasn't yet sunk into the sea, and second, the food isn't nearly as bad as most "experts" report. In fact, we remain aware of Venice's impending demise through reports, not observation, and the food is beyond a doubt the most underrated in all of Italy. (Dave Yoder/The New York Times) ADV01
