(NYT22) MIAMI -- Dec. 15, 2007 -- FBN-DOLPHINS-MORRALL-2 -- Monte Clark, right, a former coach, and Bob Griese, a former quarterback who returned from injury to lead the Miami Dolphins over the Redskins in the Super Bowl at a golf tournament in Miami in December 2007. Earl Morrall, 73, led the Dolphins to 12 of their 17 victories in their undefeated season in 1972. Morrall played 21 seasons in the N.F.L., appeared in four Super Bowls and was a two-time Pro Bowl selection. His greatest star turns came as an able understudy, first to Johnny Unitas on the Baltimore Colts and then to Griese on the Dolphins. (Marc Serota/The New York Times)
