(NYT37) NEW YORK -- Sept. 11, 2001 -- TERROR-RDP-37 -- The twin towers of the World Trade Center in February, left, and as the second tower collapsed minutes after the first one following a terrorist attack, Tuesday. In what appeared to be parallel attacks on quintessential symbols of American financial and military power on Tuesday morning, planes slammed into both towers of the World Trade Center in Manhattan, and then a short time later another crashed into the Pentagon, outside Washington. Both of the 110-story towers at the World Trade Center collapsed some minutes apart about an hour later. (Angel Franco, left, Steffen Kaplan/The New York Times)
