*Eds. Retransmission to sub info to supoorting Carter. (NYT55) WALTHAM, Mass. -- Jan. 23, 2007 -- SUB-CARTER-BRANDEIS-2 -- Dan Klein joined a small group of demonstrators outside Brandeis University to support former president Jimmy Carter's book, "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid," in Waltham, Mass., on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007. In his first large public speech about his controversial book, "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid," Carter told an audience at Brandeis University that he stood by the book and its title, that he apologized for what he called an "improper and stupid" sentence in the book, and that he had been disturbed by allegations that he was anti-Semitic.
