(NYT34) NEW YORK -- Oct. 2, 2005 -- OBIT-WILSON -- Playwright August Wilson outside the Yale Repertory Theater in New Haven, Conn., in Apriul 2005. Wilson, who chronicled the African-American experience in the 20th century in a series of plays that will stand as a landmark in the history of black culture, of American literature and of Broadway theater, died on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005 at a hospital in Seattle.
