(NYT70) NEW YORK -- Sept. 15, 2005 -- NY-ELN-RUNOFF -- McClinton Irby, a Board of Elections worker, held up a ballot on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, for Felipe Luciano, left, and his lawyer, Jerry H. Goldfeder. Luciano, a Council District 8 candidate, finished a very close second. A legal services firm with strong ties to the Democratic Party plans to ask a State Supreme Court justice on Friday, to halt a possible runoff election between Fernando Ferrer and Representative Anthony D. Weiner, arguing that it would waste up to $12 million in city funds because Weiner has already conceded the party's mayoral nomination to Ferrer. (Andrea Mohin/The New York Times)
