(NYT26) WASHINGTON -- May 1, 2005 -- NUCLEAR-POWER -- President Bush gave a speech to a packed crowd at a U.S. Small Business Administration luncheon in Washington on Wednesday, April 27, 2005. Electric companies have shown more interest in building new nuclear reactors the last few months than they have in the last two decades, but despite strong cheerleading from Bush, conditions are not right to induce anyone to take the $1.5 billion gamble to see if the industry is ready for a second round of plants, according to industry experts.
