(NYT16) NEW YORK -- April 15, 2005 -- Adv. for Sunday, April 17 -- INVEST-THIRD-AVENUE -- Amit B. Wadhwaney, who manages the Third Avenue International Value fund, in his Manhattan office on April 1, 2005, often watches companies for years before buying. International Value's performance has bred popularity. Since the beginning of 2004, the fund has swelled to more than $1 billion in assets from $140 million. In the early part of this year, new money from customers was surging in faster than Wadhwaney, 51, was willing to invest it. (Marilynn K. Yee/The New York Times)
