(NYT25) VICTORIA FALLS, Zimbabwe -- June 20, 2004 -- ZIMBABWE-TOURISM-3 -- Outside Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, a smattering of tourists occupy the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge on June 3, 2004, at what should be the near-peak of the tourist season. At least one major tourist hotel is closing, air passengers are dwindling and tourist traffic has shriveled in the four years since Zimbabwe's violent 2000 national elections. Across the Zambezi River, in Zambia, the once-somnolent town of Livingstone has inherited the tourist trade and is thriving. (Michael Wines/The New York Times)
