A federal judge in San Francisco grants class-action status to a lawsuit accusing Wal-Mart of engaging in widespread discrimination against women. The lawsuit, representing some 700,000 women who worked at Wal-Mart from 1996 to 2001, is by far the largest employment discrimination class action in American history.
