(NYT34) COLTON, Calif. -- June 11, 2004 -- ILLEGAL-TIGERS-2 -- Tiger Rescue, in Colton, Calif., Tuesday, June 8, 2004. The Tiger Rescue in Colton is a sanctuary for tigers that were confiscated from the previous owner John Weinhart last year after several animal carcusses and unhealthy animals were found at his residence. The tigers are being moved to a new location in northern California next week, starting with the first set of eight. Their new home is in San Andreas, part of Calaveras County. The animals will have more nature and more space in the location they are moving to as opposed to these cages which are worn down and neglected.
