(NYT7) NEW YORK -- May 16, 2004 -- INTEL-CHIPS -- Craig R. Barrett, the chief executive of Intel, told analysts that the company would move down a "parallel track." Barrett addresses a gathering of analysts during a bi-annual meeting to discuss the company's plans and outlook on Thursday May 13, 2004 in Manhattan. Two weeks ago, Intel, the world's largest chip maker, publicly acknowledged that it had hit a "thermal wall" on its microprocessor line. As a result, the company is changing its product strategy and disbanding one of its most advanced design groups. (Lucian M. Read/The New York Times)
