(NYT36) NEW YORK -- October 6, 2003 -- RADIO-DRAMA -- Radio drama died about 50 years ago, and wistful obituaries consigned the art form to the thrilling days of yesteryear. Himan Brown, 93, though, refused to go to the funeral. Brown created and produced such popular radio programs of the 1930's and 1940's as "The Adventures of the Thin Man," "Dick Tracy,'' "Grand Central Station" and, most famously, "Inner Sanctum Mysteries." Brown in his Manhattan apartment on Sept. 30, 2003, that he's lived in since 1938. (Richard Perry/The New York Times)
