(NYT20) NEW YORK -- Oct. 24, 2003 -- CONCORDE-LAST-FLIGHT-5 -- Residents of Howard Beach, the neighborhood in the Queens borough of New York near John F. Kennedy Airport, wave towards a British Airways' Concorde after it took off bound for London on its last commercial flight, Friday, Oct. 10, 2003. While British Airways said goodbye to its flagship airliner, Rep. Anthony Weiner, representing the area of Queens where many voiced opposition to the supersonic aircraft's noise, put the last flight another way: "This is one flight cancellation that was long overdue.''
