(NYT11) LOS ANGELES -- October 20, 2003 -- DISNEY-HALL -- The shimmering, stainless steel Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, designed by Frank Gehry, opened on Monday, Oct. 20, 2003. It was a 16-year project designed not only to transform the cultural landscape of the city but also to serve as the cornerstone for the creation of the of a downtown area that already shows signs of reinventing itself.
