(NYT40) NEW YORK -- March 12, 2003 -- ELVIS-WARHOL-2 -- An international intrigue involving an allegedly stolen Andy Warhol masterpiece, "Red Elvis,'' and a Swedish art dealer accused of the theft has embroiled the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and one of its more colorful trustees, Peter M. Brant. There is no doubt that Brant, a newsprint magnate, publisher, film producer, polo player, convicted tax evader and real estate developer ended up with the work worth an estimated $12 million. The mystery is what happened after Kerstin Lindholm, lent the painting to a show until it ended up with Brant. Lindholm in her lawyer's office in Manhattan on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003.
