(NYT30) NEW YORK -- March 8, 2003 -- BROADWAY-STRIKE-5 -- A lone pedestrian peeks through a theater's backstage entrance on 45th street, Saturday, March 8, 2003, as the musician's strike on Broadway continued and matinee performances for musicals were canceled. The two sides in the Broadway labor battle -- the producers and the musicians union -- do not agree on much, and as of Saturday morning, March 8, 2003, they remained far apart on the divisive issue of how many musicians should play in an orchestra pit. Both sides and many Broadway observers do agree on one thing: It all went terribly wrong terribly quickly. (Richard Perry/The New York Times)
