(NYT16) NEW YORK -- Aug. 20, 2003 -- NY-ROSENBAUM-TRIAL -- Fay, speaking, and Max Rosenbaum, right, parents of Yankel Rosenbaum, and Yankel's brother Norman, center, address the media outside United States District Court in Brooklyn, Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, in New York. A dozen years after Yankel Rosenbaum was fatally stabbed in the Crown Heights riots, Lemrick Nelson was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for violating Rosenbaum's civil rights. Nelson, who was 16 at the time that he stabbed Yankel Rosenbaum, could be out of prison within a year because of time served on an earlier conviction that was overturned.
