(NYT1) JERUSALEM -- Aug. 28, 2003 -- MIDEAST-ISRAEL-1 -- A group of Jewish visitors during a visit Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003 to the site known to Jews as the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest shrine, and to Muslims as al-Haram al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary) which contains Islam's third holiest shrine, the 1,300-year-old al-Aqsa mosque, in Jerusalem. The Dome of the Rock mosque, seen in the background, is also part of the site. Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas accused Israel of creating a recipe for violence by allowing Jewish extremists to visit the most politically sensitive holy site for both sides in Jerusalem.
