(NYT2) DENVER -- Aug. 27, 2002 -- CIR-LOCAL-PHONES -- In what may be the start of an alarming trend for the nation's largest telephone companies, a small but growing number of consumers, many of them students or recent college graduates, have abandoned land-line telephones altogether in favor of wireless service. Denver hair stylist Jennifer Lehocky, right, has given up on a land line phone in favor of a cellular phone for all her calls. Lehocky makes a call to a friend while waiting for a client's perm to set. (Kevin Moloney/The New York Times)
