(NYT21) NEW YORK -- Aug. 28, 2002 -- ADV. FOR SUN., SEPT. 1 -- THEATER-TAKE-ME-OUT -- Richard Greenberg's new work, "Take Me Out,'' opens on Sept. 5 at the Joseph Papp Public Theater, appropriately timed for the pennant race, unless the major league players go on strike. "Take Me Out'' is about baseball and homosexuality, subject areas not ordinarily considered to overlap but ones that in recent years have been creeping into the public consciousness. Greenberg, left, and director Joe Mantello at the Joe Papp Public Theatre in Manhattan in August. (Michele V. Agins/The New York Times)
