(NYT35) BATON ROUGE, La. -- Aug. 7, 2002 -- BATON-ROUGE-KILLINGS -- As the serial killer of three women in Baton Rouge, La., remains unfound, other women are trying to find peace of mind any way they can. Some, even the ones who hate guns, now stand three-deep in lines at firing ranges waiting for their chance to shred a paper target. This is not a panic, but a nagging certainty that, over the past 10 months, a man somehow convinced three attractive, professional, middle-class women to open their doors and let him inside their lives, just long enough to end them. At Precision Firearms and Indoor Range in Baton Rouge, business has soared in recent weeks. (Jaclyn McCabe/The New York Times)
