(NYT7) MCLEAN, Va. -- Aug. 7, 2002 -- CIR-PARENTS-TECH -- Teen computer gurus do exist. But computer and data survey experts say that for families with preteenagers or teenagers who aren't geeks, it is the parents who get the distress call when it comes to in-house tech support, particularly for computer games. That is especially true for the growing number of parents who use computers enough at work to feel that they should be able to figure some of these problems out, or at least to follow directions. "I'm the one that has set up the printers,'' says Lee Rainie, center, director of the Pew Internet and American Life Project. He offered some Web tips to his daughters, Christine, left, and Abi at his home in McLean, Va. (Linda Spillers/The New York Times)
