(NYT50) BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Feb. 20, 2003 -- IRAQ-INSPECTIONS -- Sean Logan, 22, of San Francisco, Calif., center, joined other foreign volunteers in the al-Amiriya district of Baghdad, Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, to protest plans to attack Iraq. Some of the volunteers are planning to serve as human shields at potential bombing targets. Volunteers from half a dozen nations expect to move into a large, collective dorm room on Sunday at the Baghdad South Power Plant to try to prevent it's being bombed in the event of war -- a site they said was suggested to them by the Iraqi government. Since arriving earlier this month the volunteers have been touring hospitals, water treatment plants and other installations critical to the civilian population. (Farah Nosh/The New York Times) *LITE
