(NYT28) NEW YORK -- March 3, 2003 -- QUATTRONE-SPITZER -- New York state prosecutors have narrowed the scope of their criminal investigation of Frank J. Quattrone, the star investment banker at Credit Suisse First Boston, to focus on obstruction of justice as opposed to broader fraud charges, lawyers involved in several of the investigations say. Eliot Spitzer, the New York attorney general is said to be trying to prosecute Quattrone on obstruction of justice charges involving a federal inquiry.
