(NYT23) WASHINGTON -- Feb. 5, 2003 -- SEC-DONALDSON -- William Donaldson, President Bush's nomination to be chairman of the Security and Exchange Commission is expected to face tough questioning at his confirmation hearing by Democrats who will challenge his record at the New York Stock Exchange and at Aetna. But he is nonetheless expected to be confirmed as head of the SEC in part because lawmakers are impatient to be rid of Harvey Pitt, who will not leave until a successor arrives. Donaldson gestures during a hearing on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003. (Doug Mills/The New York Times)
