(NYT38) WASHINGTON -- July 27, 2000 -- - AOL-CASE-RESIGN-3 -- AOL Time Warner Inc.'s chairman, Steve Case, co-founder or America Online and one of the architects of its merger with Time Warner, will resign in May, the company said Sunday. Former AOL Time Warner Inc. chief executive Gerald Levin waits for Case, right, who was talking with Preston Padden, executive vice president for Disney/ABC just before the FCC hearing in July 2000. The heads of America Online and Time Warner in July 2000 sought to reassure regulators that their companies' merger will benefit the public and not squelch competition.
