(NYT51) PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Feb. 23, 2003 -- RI-CLUB-FIRE-MASS-2 -- Arnold Napolitano sits in prayer during a service Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at St. Francis Chapel in Providence, R.I., with his daughters Stephanie and Kimberly, both 30, left, who escaped the flash fire at the Station that killed 97 people on Thursday night. The names of the victims from Thursday's inferno have only come out a handful at a time, and the sense of dread in this tiny state has grown in the aftermath the deadly nightclub fire. In the smallest state in the nation, everyone seems to know everyone else. The connections are deep to the 96 concertgoers who perished. Rhode Island is only 1,214 square miles, measuring 48 miles long and 37 miles wide. (Nicole Bengiveno/The New York Times)
