(NYT12) CANADIAN, Texas -- Oct. 20, 2002 -- TEXAS-FALL-COLORS -- An estimated 3,000 visitors spent this weekend admiring leaves of gold and red and orange that decorated the edges of the small town of Canadian, Texas. The weather offered no favors, with pouring rains, but many people still conducted windshield foliage inspections, not seeming to mind, or realize, that the most brilliant of the red leaves was actually poison ivy.
