Fire Island, USA: FIRE ISLAND’S famous Pyramid House is now on sale for $6.5 million having previously been owned by the classic movie Sister Act writer Paul Rudnick. The unique three-bedroom home outside New York, was built in 1961 and designed by architect Julio Kaufman. The property was bought in 2001 by Paul Rudnick, writer of comedy hits such as “Sister Act”, “The Naked Truth” and “Jeffrey”. Paul earnt a name for himself on Broadway, quickly rising as a top theatre and cinema writer. His most famous movie creation is Sister Act, the 1992 American comedy starring Whoopi Goldberg as Deloris Wilson, a lounge singer hiding from her gangster boyfriend in a nunnery. During his ten years at the property, Paula and his husband had extensive renovations, including a pool and three small pyramid guest rooms. In 2011, fashion and costume designer Jeff Mahshie bought the property, followed by the current listing broker, Glenn Rice, in 2018. During the 1920s, the Manhattan theatre community began staying on the island, with many celebrities still visiting over summer. These include American actress Tina Fey, actor Christopher David North, actress Lea Thompson and wrestler Kevin Nash. The property is located on fire island, the large centre island that runs parallel to Long Island, New York. In 2012, Hurricane Sandy divided the island in two, measuring 9.6 square miles in total. The property boasts 2,200 square feet and glass walls to rival the Louvre.
