Opieka okołoporodowa w Ugandzie
Uganda, district of Hoima, October 5th 2016 Myakato Merida, 30, 8 months and a half pregnant, walks to the health center. Merida is at her 6th pregnancy. Her 1st baby was born at the health center, the second and third at home, but then she saw a woman in the village having complications and decided to deliver the other children at the health center. She wants another boy and wont stop until she gets it. In Uganda, 16 women die everyday from childbirth-related complications and 76 newborns in every 1,000 do not reach the age of one. These avoidable deaths are often caused by the lack of transport and ambulance system that delays the medical care of these women and babies. Martina Bacigalupo / Agence VU
