Cytotec is an ulcer medication sold over the country and commonly used in Honduras, where abortion is illegal, to induce an abortion. Because mifepristone is a registered abortion drug, its sale and use are not permitted in most countries with restrictive abortion laws. In contrast, misoprostol is an anti-ulcer medication, and is registered under various trade names worldwide. Although less effective alone than when combined with mifepristone, misoprostol offers an accessible alternative for women. Women use many different methods to self-induce an abortion. Some are safe and effective, while others are dangerous to the health of the woman and/or ineffective at terminating a pregnancy. Globally, millions of women who have fled their homes because of conflict or crisis also face systemic rape and the resulting pregnancies. Despite the clear need -- refugee women face among the highest levels of sexual violence in the world -- abortion services are almost nonexistent in refugee camps. "Why don't women raped in conflict have a right to abortion?" is a question that indicts some of the most powerful individuals and institutions, while zeroing in on the experiences and stories of some of the most marginalized people.
