MIgranci na granicy Kanady i USA - Redux
A pregnant woman and her child and a woman traveling alone from Nigeria are placed in a police vehicle after crossing illegally from the USA into Canada at Roxham Rd. Quebec. Migrants crossing the border from the US into Canada can legally claim refugee status and are entitled to a hearing, even though they are crossing illegally at an unauthorized border point. They will be arrested but are then taken into the refugee claimant system that protects and assists them until their case is heard. The toughening of US policy toward undocumented aliens has driven a wave of people to cross the border into Canada. Roxham Rd. near the town of Hemmingford, Quebec has become the busiest unofficial crossing point.
