Just like him, most of An Giang's breeders settled down in the countryside. Many farming families, attracted by this profitable market, switched to working in this field. The number of aquatic farms, floating cages and handling factories is in constant growth. Due to this boom of catfish production, Vietnam currently holds sixth place among worldwide exporters of aquatic products. This massive export market, which brings in more than 3 billion dollars a year, imposes new constraints. Conforming to the terms set by an international market, such as improving water quality and updating breeding and handling procedures, will require a huge effort. L'explosion de la production de poissons-chats place actuellement le Vietnam au rang de sixicme exportateur mondial de produits aquatiques. Cette exportation massive, qui amcne chaque annee plus de trois milliards de dollars, impose de nouvelles contraintes?; face aux exigences des marches internationaux, des efforts sont necessaires pour ameliorer la qualite des eaux et adapter les procedes d'elevage et de transformation.
