Cambodia, Phnom Penh, July 9, 2009 The branch of Tonle Sap links the Great Lake to the Mekong during the tides. Between the Vietnamese borders and those of Laos, the Mekong's Cambodian course stretches over 310 miles (500 km). Its basin is an ancient sea bed surrounded by a crown of hills, except on its southern part, where it breaks into a large trench of fluvial outflow towards the delta. At the place known as "the four-branches", a genuine water junction where the capital Phnom Penh is located, the river receives the waters of Tonle Sap, spillway of the great interior lakes. Entre les fronticres du Vietnam et celles du Laos, le parcours cambodgien du Mekong s'etend sur 500?km. Son bassin est un ancien fond de mer cerne d'une couronne de reliefs. Au sud, il s'ouvre en un large fosse d'ecoulement fluvial vers le delta.
