Drezno zniszczone podczas alianckich nalotów dywanowych
View taken in January 1952 from Dresden's Muenzgasse street showing people working on the removal of debris in front of the ruins of the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady). The 18th century Protestant church, a searing symbol of the suffering of German civilians after its destruction in World War II bombing and now of reconciliation between the one-time enemies, has been re-consecrated on 30 October 2005 after over 10 years of reconstruction costing some EUR 180 million.
