Twin sisters Shakila (R) and Shanno Babe (L), 17, at boxing practice in the Sports Authority of India Complex (East Zone) in Calcutta. They come from Ekbalpur, a deprived Muslim district of Calcutta. In spite of social stigmas attached to Muslim women in sport, they were encouraged by their mother to take up boxing at the age of three. The sisters are serious boxers and Shakila has won an international championship in the junior category. Their success means they have become role models in their neighbourhood and are inspiring other young Muslim women to take up the sport. Calcutta, INDIA - 2007. 548481
