Lopez-Galindo who was attacked, robbed, and left alone by drug smugglers, started a fire to signal for help and a rescue after hiking five days in the desert mountains with one gallon of water. According to death estimates of Border Patrol statistics there were 171 deaths in Arizona in 2008 alone.
