A closeup view 28 January 1967 at the Kennedy Space Center of the Apollo 1 Spacecraft Command Module after a flash fire which killed the three-man crew of the Apollo/Saturn 204 mission. Astronauts Virgil I. Grissom, Edward H. White II, and Roger B. Chaffee lost their lives in the accidental fire which occurred 27 January 1967 during a preflight test.
