Former military woman, Suzanne Giesemann used to serve her country; now she serves the dead, helping them make contact with grieving loved ones. As a Commander, Suzanne served her country at the highest levels of the US military, including duty as a commanding officer and aide to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She flew on Air Force One with the President, attended top-secret hearings on Capitol Hill, and met royalty. It was a varied and prestigious career, and she experienced many powerful events, including the devastation of 9/11. But nothing prepared her for the personal anguish when her stepdaughter Susan was killed by a lightning strike. She was only 27 years old. Suzanne, 62, says: ‘It was devastating. I had never dealt with the death of anyone so close or so young. Feeling my beloved husband Ty's grief compounded the pain. I also had no tools to deal with grief. I tried to hold it together in front of my husband, to be strong for him, but my whole body shook at the funeral.’ After her stepdaughter was killed, Suzanne became convinced that consciousness survives death and began exploring the notion of an afterlife. Suzanne took Ty - a retired Navy destroyer Captain - to see a medium for the first time in his life. The medium described a woman in a brown uniform who died suddenly in her 20s. Most convincing was the presence of a baby boy in spirit who Susan wanted to introduce. Susan was six months pregnant with a boy when she was killed. Suzanne, who lives in South Carolina, remembers: ‘When it was clear from the evidence that Susan was with us, I sobbed from the disbelief and the relief that my hopes were well-founded. It turned my worldview upside down - in a good way.’ After the life-changing experience, she trained up as a medium herself. ‘I now talk to spirits daily, but mostly only when I deliberately set the intention to do so and shift my consciousness. It feels natural, exciting, and full of possibility. I do not see the spirits' faces, but they show me meaningful images and give me verifiable evidence of their presence. I hear words, full sentences, and full conversations, depending on the clarity of the connection. I feel their presence, their personality, and their love. ‘I am humbled and honoured every minute of the day with this work, but it is not always easy, especially when dealing with people who are hurting or stuck in outdated belief systems. It is my passion. I absolutely love the teaching aspects--showing others that we all have the ability to connect with spirits. It is never scary because spirits have shown me we are the Light of Consciousness, part of a benevolent universe.
