A chaotic tangle of electrical wires are seen in Baishizhou, Shenzhen. Baishizhou, located in central Shenzhen, is home to more than 150,000 people in an area of just 26 square miles, who are mostly migrants attracted to the low rents. The whole area is in danger as the local government is planning to tear it down. Shenzhen, as well as all of China, has seen a rise in rents over the last few decades, and this particular enclave seems to be one of the few places in central Shenzhen to still offer an affordable rents, especially for those migrants coming from the countryside looking for a better life.
