Gambians marching on Kairaba Avenue in Greater Banjul, The Gambia, to protest to have the former Gambian dictator, Yahya Jammeh brought to Justice. Jammeh was forced into exile in January 2017 after losing the election to current president Adama Barrow. Jammeh ruled The Gambia for 22 years after taking over power in a coup in 1994. During his time in office thousands become victims of his oppressive rule - including students shot in cold blood, journalists who were assassinated, disappeared and tortured, and young women who accuse him of raping them. The protest was to counter a previous demonstration by supporters of Yahya Jammeh who demand he be allowed to return to live in the Gambia. Gambia's Minister of Justice Ba Tambadou said last week that if Jammeh returned to The Gambia, he would be immediately arrested upon arrival.
