In a handout photo, the last image transmitted by the spacecraft Rosetta before it intentionally crashed into the rubber-ducky shaped Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, on Sept. 30, 2016. Researchers from the European Space Agency thought they had collected every picture beamed back by the probe during the two years it spent investigating the comet. But on Sept. 28, 2017, they announced the discovery of Rosetta's final transmission. (European Space Agency/Rosetta via The New York Times) -- FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY. --
