The house in Portsmouth, Hants, was an inn where King Charles was due to stay in 1628 when his 'favourite' Buckingham was stabbed by John Felton. Now known as Buckingham House, the property has been lovingly restored by the current owner Ian Young, who has been fascinated by the building since he was a boy at the school next door. The Grade II* listed house is now on the open market for the first time in about 70 years with Morris Dibben estate agents.
