"I created some laughter," says cartoonist Al Capp when asked his greatest accomplishment, Oct. 25, 1977. Capp. photographed at home in Cambridge, Mass., has just retired "Li'l Abner" and his comic strip world of Dogpatch, after 43 years of preposterous catastrophe with its peak in the 1950s.
