AP Historical Hard Drive 2009
Two Russians dig a grave in a Grozny park which has been converted into a graveyard, Monday, Feb. 20, 1995. Bodies are being buried in the park, because there is no nearby Russian orthodox graveyard, and the nearest one is too dangerous to reach since the renewed fighting. Small-arms fire crackled toward the south of the city where Chechen fighters still hold out around the district of Chernorechye. Heavy explosions could be heard every minute during the day on Tuesday, two days after the expiration of a shaky truce. (AP Photo/Alexander Zemlianchenko)
