AP Historical Hard Drive 2009
Seventeen years ago these five women, now leaders in the National Women's Party, took part in the suffragette movement, picketing of the White House. They went to jail with some 400 others, when they persisted in the fight to give women the right to vote. From left to right are: Mary Dubrow of New York; Helena Hill Weed of Hartford, Ct.; Florence B. Hilles of Wilmington, Del.; Mary E. Brown of Wilmington, Del.; and Jessica Henderson of Boston, Massachusetts. They are seen attending the Women's Party Convention in New York, Nov. 17, 1934. (AP Photo)
