Frank Noel, Rome staffer, who has been acting photo editor during the absence of Mort Belshaw (on home leave) got so much ribbing from the news staffer over his old American hat that he thought up this one to keep them quiet for a while. With the help of his wife's hat which he fitted on top of his marine peaked cap, and a couple of ear protectors he made quiet a show at the AP office in Rome, in January 1949.
